Cosmetic Tattooing is a semi-permanent cosmetic procedure that can be used to enhance natural facial features - brow, lips, eyeliner and hair density.

At THink Aesthetics, we use digital machines to implant specially formulated pigment in the upper layer of the skin. Cosmetic Tattoo pigments are made from ingredients that are naturally occurring in the body, these get broken down and absorbed overtime, allowing the cosmetic tattoo to fade naturally.

About Cosmetic Tattooing

What is Cosmetic Tattooing?

Cosmetic Tattooing is a semi-permanent cosmetic treatment that involves implanting pigment into the skin using a needle. Every treatment is tailored to the individual client to enhance their personal features. Skin tone, facial structure and natural brow shape are all carefully considered in design development to ensure the final result perfectly enhances the client's unique features and desired outcome.

At THink Aesthetics we pride ourselves on keeping client safety at the forefront of everything we do.

We use digital machines that can be adjusted to control the depth and speed of the needle, allowing for precise and consistent pigment implantation for more even and clean results.

All pigments are quality and safety checked, passing the most recent Regulations that were introduced in the European Union (EU). These regulations banned imposed restrictions on use of certain colourants that were found to be unsafe for use.

Does Cosmetic Tattooing hurt?

Cosmetic Tattooing techniques and anaesthetic has come a long way. We use a specially formulated anaesthetic cream to pre-numb the area, and an in-treatment gel to keep you comfortable throughout the procedure. This keeps you feeling nice and comfortable - we even have some clients fall asleep!

The anaesthetic used for your treatment is organised through a compounding pharmacy. As a part of the pre-treatment preparation you will be required to order and pay for your own anaesthetic prescription.

For this we specifically work with Keperra Compounding Pharmacy, who have made the process of obtaining the correct anaesthetic prescription for your treatment easy. We will discuss the process of ordering anaesthetic with you at your time of booking.

How long does Cosmetic Tattooing take?

Most of the time for your Cosmetic Tattoo appointment is usually dedicated to the drawing up process, particularly for brow and lip tattoo appointments. Your technician will go over consultation forms, discuss your expectations and work with you on your design and colour. This process alone can take upwards of an hour.

As a guide, for time:
Brows: 2 - 2.5 hours
Eyeliner: 1.5 - 2 hours
Lips: 3 - 3.5 hours

Cosmetic Tattooing typically requires 2 visits (sometimes 3). Following the initial appointment your Cosmetic Tattoo will fade by 40-60% and you will be required to come back 4-6 weeks later for a touch-up. At your touch-up (otherwise known as 'perfection visit'), you will work with your technician to make sure you are happy with the colour, shape and overall look of your cosmetic tattoo.

Think of it as painting a wall - you prime before you paint!

How long does Cosmetic Tattooing last?

The answer to how long it lasts depends on a number of factors, but generally you can expect your Cosmetic Tattoo to last 12-18 months before you would be looking to come in for a 'maintenance' or 'colour boost' appointment.

Different things affect the longevity of a Cosmetic Tattoo such as colour selection, style, skin type, aftercare, lifestyle, skin products - the list goes on!

Ultimately, Cosmetic Tattooing is semi-permanent and designed to fade. It's low maintenance, not no maintenance.

Can you remove Cosmetic Tattoo?

Cosmetic Tattoo removal can be done if you had your tattooing done elsewhere, or if you have changed your mind. If you change your mind on your tattoo there are some alterations that can be done.

We offer Cosmetic Tattoo removal which can be used to remove sections that you may want changed, lighten dark tattoo or work to remove the whole tattoo area.

Your technician will discuss your expectations and work with you to manage the outcome of your cosmetic tattoo to best suit you and your lifestyle.

Is Cosmetic Tattooing safe?

How long will my Cosmetic Tattooing take to heal?

One of the big questions and hesitations when it comes to Cosmetic Tattooing is about the healing process - how long it takes and what to expect.

Day 1: Immediately after your Cosmetic Tattoo will be at it's darkest and thickest. The colour will fade by about 40-60% as the area heals.

Day 4: The area will continue to look dark until around day 4, when you can expect some flaking, shedding and itchiness. This is all a part of the healing process and your technician will explain more about this during your treatment.

Day 10+: The area will be much lighter! The colour almost looks like it dissapears in some cases and this is probably when people freak out the most about the colour but it is all a part of the natural healing process.

Day 15: After 2 weeks, you will begin to get more of an indication as to the healed colour of your cosmetic tattoo. The colour will come back and be about 40-60% of the initial intensity. The surface of the area should be healed, but it will still be 2-4 weeks before the area has completely fully healed.

How much does Cosmetic Tattooing cost?

Cost varies depending on the treatment and style.

Brows (all styles) are $650 for your initial appointment.
Lips range from $400 to $750 for your initial appointment.
Eyeliner ranges from $275 to $595 for your initial appointment.

The touch up appointment (for all cosmetic tattoo treatments) 4-6 weeks later is $250

How do I book an appointment?

When you are ready to book your cosmetic tattoo you can do so by using our online booking system, or by giving us a call during business hours.

Before your first appointment, we do highly recommend booking a complimentary consultation. This gives you an opportunity to learn more about the treatment process, where we can provide personalised treatment advice and expectations.

Particularly, if you are on any medications we do highly recommend a consultation beforehand as this can affect your cosmetic tattoo.
