This unit is a core unit for the Diploma of Cosmetic Tattooing, SHB50321. Anyone wanting to complete the diploma must complete this unit of competency.

The core units are designed to give you a comprehensive foundation of knowledge ready to choose the practical training that suits your cosmetic tattoo career goals.

The diploma is designed to suit all cosmetic tattooists, from the experienced professional wanting to expand their skills with the strongest possible qualification, through to the beginner wanting to kick-start their career with a depth of knowledge that is the new industry benchmark.

โ€ข Individuals with no prior industry experience wanting to become a Cosmetic Tattooist

How is this course delivered?

This course is delivered online, allowing you to complete the training in your own time, at your own pace. There is around 40 hours worth of online theory involved.

Students have 3 months to complete the course and can complete it anytime within the timeframe. The 3 months includes working through all the theory, tests, and practical demonstration components.

The practical demonstration of colour mixing and colour correction, plus pigment selection for five live models or clients must be uploaded using photographs or scans per the instructions at the end of the unit.

Are there any specific course requirements?

The Practical Demonstration has two components that require submissions in addition to the online training:

โ€ข Download and print copies of colour mixing templates and use the colour kit provided (by post) to prepare and correct colours.
โ€ข Find five clients, or model clients, and select an appropriate pigment for an eyebrow treatment. This is an extension of pigment selection done online.

What is the enrolment process?

The following applies if you are undertaking this unit as a single unit of competency. If you are completing The Diploma of Cosmetic Tattooing, you should have already completed the following process and will not need to do so again.

Enrolments are only be handled during business hours Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
