The Diploma of Cosmetic Tattoo (Lips) includes 9 units of competency:

Core Units:

• SHBBSSC004 Function & Structure of Skin and Hair
• SHBBCOS002 Colour Theory and Pigmentology
• SHBBCOS003 Principles of Cosmetic Tattoo Design
• SHBBCOS001 Providing Cosmetic Tattoo Consultations

Infection Control, your choice of:

• HLTINF005 Maintain Infection Prevention for Skin Penetration Treatments (required in QLD), or
• SHBBINF002 Maintain Infection Control Standards

Elective Cosmetic Tattoo Treatment Unit*:

Elective Business Units:

• SIRXMKT002 Use social media to engage customers
• BSBESB404 Market new business ventures
• BSBESB407 Manage finances for new business ventures

*The Diploma of Cosmetic Tattoo (Lips) course can be upgraded to include up to three specialisations, the qualification would read Diploma of Cosmetic Tattooing (Eyebrows, Lips, Eyes, Scalp Micropigmentation, or Breast Areola) depending on which specialisations are completed.

Course cost structure varies depending on the number of treatment specialisations within the Diploma a student is wishing to pursue. Additional treatment specialisations are a discounted upgrade cost of $4000 (usually $4950).

• One specialisation: $10,950
• Two specialisations: $14,950
• Three specialisations: $18,950

Experienced cosmetic tattooist may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), which recognises relevant existing skills and experience.

Payment Options:

THink Aesthetics offers payment plans for students wishing to pay their training in scheduled instalments while they progress through their training. The first payment is the initial course deposit of $850, which will start your Diploma of Cosmetic Tattooing journey. Read more about our study options.

Payment plans offer a 9, 12 or 18 month schedule for paying off your chosen course and electives. Units can also be paid for individually as you progress through the course, allowing students to stagger costs as required but still get started.

Unfortunately, this course has not been approved for government funding / VET Fee Help.

Students should expect the Diploma of Cosmetic Tattoo (Lips) to take between 9-18 months to complete, with a part time commitment. Those who are able to dedicate more time to training week-to-week should expect to complete the Diploma of Cosmetic Tattooing earlier.

Flexible, on-demand training means that completing your Diploma of Cosmetic Tattooing with THink Aesthetics is able to be work with you! There is no set start date, and face-to-face training dates are organised to best suit your learning style and preference.

This course is delivered both online and in-person. Students are guided along THink Aesthetics' recommended structure with a mix of online training modules and assessment, optional video check-ins, face-to-face training and 1:1 practical training with model clients.

Face-to-face practical training incorporates in-class theory and technique development with 3 days of dedicated practical training working on clients, where you will complete 6 treatments on a variety of different model clients. These training dates can be scheduled to suit your training schedule and style.

Practical model training dates are 1:1 with your cosmetic tattoo trainer. You will have the full support of your trainer!

Students are required to complete 9 units of competency as a part of the Diploma of Cosmetic Tattoo (Lips). Including 4 core units, 1 infection control and 4 elective units.

A total of 4 elective units are required between the treatment and business options. Students must complete at least one from both categories. Those who opt to specialise in multiple areas will complete less business units, e.g. a Diploma of Cosmetic Tattoo (Eyebrows, Eyes, Lips) would only require one business elective of their choice.

Students will need to ensure access to the following:

• Internet access
• Computer/tablet/smart phone/or laptop for the online content and submissions
• Smart phone or camera to take photos
• Models for practical assessment items
