SHBBCOS001 Provide Cosmetic Tattooing Consultations is one of the core units of the new Diploma of Cosmetic Tattooing (SHB50321).

The consultations unit is designed to bring together your knowledge of skin, colour theory and pigments, and the principles of cosmetic tattoo design, and provide you with a process for doing consultations with your clients. Client consultations are essentially your ‘audition’ with a potential client before they commit to cosmetic tattooing. We include tips and hints on making this process successful. The subjects include:

First impressions
Consultation forms
Contraindications and client considerations
Treatment plans and documentation
Record keeping and photography
Anaesthetics, patch testing and emergencies
Informed client consent
Aftercare

THink Aesthetics strongly recommends you complete this unit together with SHBBCOS003 Incorporate Elements and Principles of Design to Cosmetic Tattooing. This is so the practical assessments can be done together. The recommended order of the core units is:

The SHBBCOS001 course includes online learning modules and tests, client consultation forms and treatment plans, and a practical assessment component for you to demonstrate your skills with your own models/clients. By combining this with the practical assessment for the design unit, you will fully complete treatment plans with your models/clients, without any repetition.

Who should complete this course?

This unit is a core unit for the Diploma of Cosmetic Tattooing, SHB50321. Anyone wanting to complete the diploma must complete this unit of competency.

The core units are designed to give you a comprehensive foundation of knowledge ready to choose the practical training that suits your cosmetic tattoo career goals.

The diploma is designed to suit all cosmetic tattooists, from the experienced professional wanting to expand their skills with the strongest possible qualification, through to the beginner wanting to kick-start their career with a depth of knowledge that is the new industry benchmark.

This unit is therefore designed for:
• Cosmetic Tattooists
• Beauty Therapists wishing to become Cosmetic Tattooists
• Individuals with no prior industry experience wanting to become a Cosmetic Tattooist

Expected course outcome/s?

• Statement of attainment for this unit on diploma completion, or separately if not completing diploma*
• In depth knowledge of a proven and successful consultation process for cosmetic tattooing
• Copies of client consultation forms, treatment plans and other documentation ready for use in your own business, either ‘as is’ or personalised to your liking
• Other essential knowledge for the successful operation of a cosmetic tattoo business

*Our staff will assist you in every way they can to ensure you perform to the best of your ability and successfully complete your chosen training course. THink is however, unable to guarantee you will be issued with a statement of attainment nor obtain a particular employment outcome.

How is this course delivered?

This course is delivered online, allowing you to complete the training in your own time, at your own pace. There is around 25 hours of online theory involved.

Students have 3 months to complete the course and can complete it anytime within the timeframe. The 3 months includes working through all the theory, tests, and practical demonstration components.

The practical assessment requires six live models or clients with which you complete Consultations Forms and Treatment Plans. If you have competed SHBBSSC004 Identify the function and structure of skin and hair for cosmetic tattooing, you can use the same three models/clients and their forms as you used for the practical in that unit.

Are there any specific course requirements?

The Practical Demonstration has two components that require submissions in addition to the online training:

• The six completed Consultation Forms for your six clients or model clients.
• The six Treatment Plans for your six clients or model clients.

What is the enrolment process?

The following applies if you are undertaking this unit as a single unit of competency. If you are completing The Diploma of Cosmetic Tattooing, you should have already completed the following process and will not need to do so again.

Enrolments are only be handled during business hours Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
